And now for something completely different. (But not really. More like a variation on a well blogged theme.)
I was surfing through tumblr the other day (follow me if you like endless reblogs of things I like) and I found the video below of arm knitting.
The concept intrigued me so I decided to try it for myself.
The results were pretty satisfactory.
First I tried using 3 different 8 ply yarns. That looked terrible. Absolutely hideous.
So I finished that off and filed it under ‘big mistake’.
So I found some super bulky 12 ply from my stash and started again.
This time it was a success.
The process is really quite strange for someone used knitting with needles. It was a lot of fun though.
I’d definitely recommend trying it at least once.
It does require an uninterrupted block of time. At least one of your arms will be covered in yarn at any one time!
Even if you’ve never knitted before the instructions are very simple and gratifying.
It seems like it might be a good idea to designate a friend to check on you an hour or so into your arm knitting experiment…just in case π
Oh my boyfriend watched me the entire time and thought it was hilarious.
One hand is free to move around, but one is needed to hold the yarn.
Still good fun.
Hah. Good. π
Wow, I never knew you can knit this way. I have to try it!
Good lord that is strange looking to do, lol. But the finished product is awesome!
Great project for the KIP list… sure to turn heads and make folks wonder where your head is at! π
what is a KIP list? With this project, just not sure or can imagine. lol
KIP is Knitting In Public.
It’s a strange thing. I have no problem with it, but my bloke gets a little embarrassed. I just think he’s jealous he can’t do his hobby (fishing) whilst waiting in queues or for bands to come on stage.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLO………… It would be a GREAT KIP!!!! I would love to see the crowd it would draw except it might turn people off of ever trying real knitting.
I looks scary – like some kind of wool bondage!
Q – I’ve been meaning to post the same thing. LOL! One of the women in our spinning class taught all of us how to do this before Christmas. She used smaller yarn also. I had big plans…..
