Where there’s tea there’s hope

A cup of tea can solve pretty much anything.

A cup of tea in a pretty cup even more so.

With my aching old lady bones getting me down, my first shipment from Monstrositea came at the perfect time.

Each month Monstrositea takes you on a tea adventure with a tin of 5 different teas.

I’ve tried three of the five so far and have enjoyed all of them. I’ve never given white tea much of a chance, but I’ve nearly finished the packet already and am craving more.

All the teas have been carefully chosen, packaged with care, and come with delightful tasting notes.

I probably have 20 different types of tea in my cupboard right now and they’re either herbal or black varieties. There wasn’t a herbal or black tea in the tin so it really was a tea adventure.

I even made ice tea with some fresh mint from the garden. (Yes it’s in a beer glass – yes I still can’t resist the stained glass windows.)

I can’t wait to see what we get next month!

(If you’re in Aus and wish to sign up for the monthly box today is your last day for next month so hop to it!!)

I don’t quite know how I got here, but obviously I’ve talked for 500 posts worth.

So I’m celebrating with a tea giveaway.

I have a wonderful tea shop which tempts me on my walk to the train station every day.
And I’m giving some away to a lucky reader.
I’ll ship anywhere so please enter.

a Rafflecopter giveaway

To enter click on either of the above links and *hopefully* it will all work perfectly.

This is my first time using rafflecopter – hopefully no one will have any problems, but it took quite a bit of work to use it with wordpress.
If any one has any problems, leave me a comment and I’ll try and help. I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible.

So congratulations to me.

And congratulations to knitnrun4sanity – the winner of this giveaway.

Cheers!

(Excuse the bed side table. I have a cough and the sniffles so obviously I’m dieing. But it’s nothing that a day in bed, a 30 rock marathon, and lots and lots of tea won’t cure)
(Seriously I figured out how to get Netflix even though I’m in Australia. I am now on season 3 of 30 rock and have watched all of the new Arrested Development. This streaming thing is pretty awesome.)

Etsy love

So another knittingless weekend meant I spent a lot of time browsing etsy.

And I put together some treasury lists.

When only biscuits will do

a basic biscuit recipe with three variations.

The first one has chai latte tea in it.
I only had chai tea bags so I tried to dilute it as much as possible.

The second ones have a hershey’s kiss on top of them.

The third ones have choc mint flavoring. Well choc mint drinking chocolate, and lots of it to flavour it.

I have no idea what we’re having for dinner but we have biscuits.

Here’s my amended recipe for chocolate mint biscuits

Ingredients
125g butter, softened
1/2 cup caster sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg, at room temperature
2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 tablespoons chocolate mint powder
1 tablespoon milk

Method
Preheat oven to 180°C. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
Using an electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and vanilla in a small bowl until pale and creamy. Add egg and mix until well combined. Sift flour and baking powder over butter mixture. Add milk, chocolate mint powder, and stir until just combined.

Spoon onto baking trays.
Place a Hershey’s Kiss on top of of each biscuit. Alternatively squish top of biscuit with a fork.

Cook in oven for 12-15 minutes.

Enjoy with a hot cup of tea. Or mug of hot chocolate mint drink for extra indulgence.
