albums of the year

so, inspired by all the lists of the minute i’m putting together my top 10 albums list.
it’s limited to albums that i own, which is only 20.
the reason for this criteria is that i think in order for an album to be in my top 10 i should love it as an album – which i can only do if i can listen to it start to finish which usually involves me owning it.

so i’ve gone through the triple j album poll, made a shortlist of everything i bought this year (that was released this year) and here’s my top 10…

Blood Red Shoes – Fire Like This
Spoon – Transference
The New Pornographers – Together
The National – High Violet
Klaxons – Surfing The Void
Hot Hot Heat – Future Breeds
Glasser – Ring
Broken Social Scene – Forgiveness Rock Record
Broken Bells – Broken Bells
Children Collide – Theory of Everything

Numbering them would just be torturous.
But here’s a little fun fact – of the 10, I’ve seen spoon, the new pornographers, and children collide so far this year; and I will be seeind klaxons, hot hot heat, and the national in January.
And I would pay a rather large amount of money to see blood red shoes or broken bells in Australia.
