A trip to Mundaring Weir

A lovely Sunday morning drive to the Mundaring Weir about 40 minutes outside of Perth.

We stopped at a local bakery to pick up a pie, and drove to a little secluded spot in the Mundaring national park.

The scenery is always beautiful, and the weir is looking better for the recent rain we’ve had. We even found a little creek!

After lunch we went for a drive on a couple of 4WD tracks.
There was a couple of challenging parts and a couple of water crossings but we made it through.

I would have liked to have explored the Mundaring markets that were on, but we were late for my nephews first birthday.
My new modcloth skirt was perfect for a birthday, but not so perfect for exploring the bush.
It was a lovely Sunday, and I just hope we can get away further out of the city next weekend.

dilemma

i have a friend’s birthday on Saturday night.

but am really not sure if this dress is suitable for a house party.
am thinking it may be a little dressy for drinks at someone’s place.

any thoughts?

the dress is a hand-me-down from a friend.
i don’t remember the label, but it’s such a comfy fit.
decisions decisions…

hot and bothered

so i got home this afternoon, hot, cranky, like my car had been trying to strangle me.
i found the most flowwy dress i own ( a $10 temt number) – realise that it had shrunk in the wash and now hardly covered my butt, so i had to put a pair of shorts on underneath (my current dotti go-to denim shorts).
and it didn’t look too bad so i took some pictures…
unfortunately my hair got in the way of most of them – but i still love the way my bedroom wall looks in photos.

it’s nice and summery.
and it’s waay too hot and i’m still too cranky to write any more…

plus i’ve been really crook for the last week – so crook beer doesn’t taste good (shock!) so all my energy is going towards coughing at the moment.

and now i’m going to sleep…

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

my new favourite thing

this is one of the most gorgeous dresses i have ever owned.
it’s so floaty and beautiful
and it would look really good in winter with some patterned tights underneath – but as it’s the middle of summer it was just my bare legs…
i really love how much fabric is there…
its really playful
i only bought it last week so i haven’t really had a chance to play with it styling-wise. but it was the perfect dress to throw on in two minutes flat.
on our way home from the cricket i decided i didn’t want to cook dinner so we went to our local pub but didn’t want to lose the taxi – so it was an outfit change on the clock. and it still looked wonderful (even with my strange cricket tan lines – i had a bit of trouble with applying sunscreen everywhere)
i bought it coming home from the doctors last week, there’s a gorgeous shop called avenue apparel on my walk home – and i just happened to spot it.
and i’m glad i did!

Back on the new dress

there’s a mouse drowning on my porch

now i’m not afraid of mice, i’m just kinda jumpy around things which dash around erratically and feel creepy on your skin.
and to have one drowning in a bucket of water i accidentally left out. if that bucket of water hadn’t been out there??? ewww… i really don’t like mice in the house. i’ve lived with it before and it wasn’t fun.

but other than that it’s been a brilliant morning.
had a bit of a sleep in
i’ve done some baking
read an old book (the wind blows backwards – mary downing hahn)
tried on a new dress (modcloth public gardens dress)
watched the aussies win the cricket
and it’s not even lunch time…

a couple of birthday lunches

and a new shirt.

this is my ‘break the code’ shirt from modcloth.
and somehow my hair was looking good. even though the lunch was at 1:00 and i didn’t get out of bed til 12:30 – i was not feeling good (still aren’t feeling good which is why it’s taken me 2 days to write about sunday)
but here are some photos

now i’m going to go back to dieing… loudly…

decisions decisions…

i am racking my brain trying to figure out what to wear this evening.
i’m going to see Bon Jovi!!!
my best friend in the entire world bought these super awesome tickets which involve a backstage tour and fan pack and dinner, and i told her that i would be ready at 3:00 which means i have to figure out what to wear now!
so i’m going through my entire wardrobe in my head and disregarding pretty much everything.
i really wish i had a virtual closet, like cher in clueless, that i could mix and match things.
all i have is my previous outfit posts and my memory.

i was thinking of wearing what i wore to the new pornographers – but it seems kinda strange to be able to wear the same outfit to two completely different gigs.
but i’ll post photos anyway
i didn’t previously because they both turned out horribly – because i was taking them in my room rather quietly because my boyfriend thinks its a bit strange and i haven’t really told him what i’m doing… he’s a bit anti-interweb.
but here they are…

is this a bon jovi worthy outfit?
i just don’t think it’s rock chick enough…

it’s gone all wintery all of a sudden

wow … i dont know what’s happened to the weather but it doesn’t look pretty outside.
well it does look pretty but it’s not the 40+ degree weather that you expect in perth in summer.
it’s raining
which is great for the dams
and great for reading a good book (persuasion), watching some trashy telly (project runway), and pretending it’s cold enough to wear uggies.

so i put a chicken roast in the oven (chicken thigh with sundried tomatoes and cream cheese wrapped up, with roast tomatoes, pommes, and spinach and mushrooms sauteed in garlic butter = mmmmm!)
settled in with my new hoody, jeans, and my old favourite knee high uggies…
and listened to the rain and fireworks.
it was a good monday evening.
