Weekend reminiscing

Well the weekend didn’t go entirely as planned. I didn’t get any writing done, didn’t listen to any new music, and the writing I did do I didn’t save properly.

But it was still an awesome weekend.

Went down to Dwellingup and camped near Nanga Mill in the Lane Pool area. It’s so stunningly beautiful down there.
We left later than we should have and took a detour to see Serpentine Falls. That was nice but not worth the $11 cover charge. Particularly as would have only stayed for 20 minutes.
We had lunch at the Dwellingup Pub where we watched my boys lose to the eagles. Terrible game.
Then we went to set up camp.

Had a bit of a walk before settling into camp.
Listened to the Geelong-Fremantle game on the wireless whilst I knitted and my boy read a fishing book.

Cooked up 2 kilos of mussels in a bottle of Coopers Pale Ale, but I think next time we’ll stick to the white wine.

It was good stuff. Everything tastes better in the bush.
The next mornings breakfast was a beauty as well. Bacon & egg sandwiches with some hash browns that didn’t survive the frying process but added extra crunch. Bit of BBQ sauce and they were the perfect camp brekkie.

Packed up camp and went to go fishing. I got snagged on the first cast, my boy got snagged not too long after. But it was a nice spot just a few too many logs in the water.

Relaxing.
Good stuff.

happy 100th post

to me!!!

and thank you all for reading my ramblings.

If anyone ever wants to say hello, please comment!
Let me know if you like what you’re reading, especially let me know if you don’t like what you’re reading.

This is my way of developing my writing skills, as well as keeping track of what i eat and listen to. So any criticism can only help.
Should i be explaining more?
Should i be taking photos with a camera and not my phone?
Do you want more music? More food? More what i wear?

But thank you for reading. And please say hello.

What’s better than fresh pies? Two day old pies

So much better.

Something about the mince soaking in the tomato sauce and marinating for a couple of days perhaps?

I kinda don’t know why, but they were good.

Leftovers usually are.

Accompanied by some leftover pasta, and some fresh home-made garlic bread. My baby isn’t kissing anyone else tonight.

Happy Pie Day

Cottage pies. Or Shepherds pies. Or Potato pies.
Whatever you call them it’s what I made for Sunday night.

There wasn’t much pastry to go round so I made two with pastry (puff – prebought) and 4 without pastry in little ramekins.

patented rant #1

in response to this ABC unleashed article

Unfortunately gender equality is catching up in this matter aswell.

Only the other day I was reading an article about ‘guybrows’, ie guy’s eyebrows and how guys should best pluck, wax, or otherwise shape their eyebrows to be more attractive.

It certainly is a feminist issue that many women (myself included) speak and write very passionately about. But we can’t forget the guys also striving to meet the impossible standards that are presented to them in traditional media.

Fortunately this is an area that non-traditional media is challenging. There are some wonderful websites, blogs, and online stores who actively promote different body shapes and ideals of beauty. And they don’t shout about how they’re promoting diversity, it’s the norm.
The online market is starting to demand it.
With social media and online forums having an increased influence, this can only be a good thing.

Rise Against – Endgame

I’m currently listening to the stream of Rise Against – Endgame

I have 5 of their albums, The Unravelling, The Sufferer and the Witness, Siren Song of the Counter Culture, Revolutions Per Minute, and Appeal to Reason. So i’m not unaquainted with the band.
I saw them last year at Big Day Out and thought they rocked.
They know their stuff. I know who they’re writing for.

They’re writing for the teenage emo kids who are being bullied at school.
Every song is for them.
I never felt like it was being so blatantly rammed down my throat.

Seafood spectacular

I never used to eat seafood. But I’m so glad I do now.
I never used to eat it because I never really liked the smell and couldn’t handle eating things that could look back at me.

However on my boyfriends love and passion for seafood I was persuaded to give it a try. Oh so glad I did.

i’m in love with a boy

well my boy looked after me last night.
i didn’t (and i still don’t) feel too crash hot.
But i’ll survive…

but my boy cooked me brinner. For those of you who didn’t watch scrubs, brinner is breakfast for dinner.
So he cooked me bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomato, and toast. The toast was complete with an Invader Zim reference (“i’m making Toast!” another reason i love this boy)
