Grr argh

I’ve been a cranky person all week. Really massively cranky.

Cranky panda, temper tantrum, hissy fits, grrrrr!!!!!

So I cast on socks. (Once my headaches subsided).

It’s horrible, squeaky acrylic which I bought because I liked the colour. Fortunately I do still like the colour because the acrylic is annoying me.

It’s sport weight and surprisingly not stretchy at all. So I’ve had to increase it a bit after trying them on.

But the colours are pretty. Like icecream. Not that I’ve ever seen grey icecream. I think it’s just the pink.

I’m planning on doing the heel and cuff ribbing in the same grey as the toe. The toe which I did too much of.

Cranky I tell you.

But the weekend is just around the corner, and I have rounds of stockinette to keep me sane.

(Frogging is also good for the crankies)

Worst photos ever.

It has been a headless chook week. As in I’ve been doing a very good impression of a headless chicken.

My grand plan to knit a pair of slippers for my mums birthday (tomorrow) didn’t go according to plan. I have two soles, and I thought I was right on track to just finish off the one remaining top until I realised the one top that I had, wasn’t to the pattern.
It was so off I couldn’t make it work.

So instead of just finishing the slippers on Wednesday (ready for birthday tea Thursday) I was frogging one slipper top and searching Ravelry for another idea.

Which ended up being a mug cozy.

And as I’ve been so disorganized this week I took photos after I have it to my mum.

So here’s to a long weekend to chase the headless chook blues.

The cardigan is finished!

I am pleased as punch!
I made something and it fits.

Of course I finished it last night very late and so I have some very poor photos to show for it, but I’ve finished my first garment!!!

The pattern was really easy! I would imagine not all cardigans are so easy, particularly ones with sleeves, but I would recommend lady Kina to any knitter who wants to knit a cardigan.

I cast on a cardigan!!

I finally decided to bite the bullet and cast on something wearable.

My biggest fear has always been it’s not going to fit.
So I had to choose a pattern which was all in one. Knitting two pieces and seaming them together is not going to allay this fear.

So I settled on Lady Kina. It’s short sleeved so it looked easy.
And it is!

I can hardly believe it. I cast on on Sunday, had Monday off (the aforementioned sneezing) and now it’s Friday I can see that it’s a cardigan!

I’m overusing exclamation marks today but I really am shocked and very impressed with myself.

It doesn’t look like much (yet) but I’m proud as punch!

Enough with the sneezing

Three boxes of tissues, a packet of antihistamines, buckets of lemon tea, and some knitted dishcloths.

That was the weekend.

I figured dishcloths are probably the best thing to make whilst being all germy. They’re going to be washed anyway so the germs will wash out.

And everyone in the family is getting dishcloths for Christmas. They’re practical which fits in very well with my family’s gift giving ethos.
Plus my mother in law is a big environmentalist and I’m going to score mega brownie points with some home made scourers. Although I’ll probably end up with a standing order.

So I spent most of the weekend with ravelry open looking for different types of dishcloths.
There’s the
waffle cloth, ripple cloth, heart cloth, and a loin cloth.

I was planning on giving the leaf to my Mumsi until the Mister kindly pointed out its resemblance to a loin cloth.

Grandmothers favourite.

This is the sum total of my knitting this week. Between resting my elbow, and then succumbing to the common cold this is all I’ve achieved.
Trust me, it’s difficult to knit when you’ve got one hand permanently holding a tissue to your nose.

So here’s one grandmothers favourite dishcloth in a horrible colour way (Moda Vera print).
It looks so pretty in the ball but the colour changes are too close together for my liking.

Anyway, this will be going in someone’s Christmas present and they’ll never have to know that I don’t like it.

Beside i dont know what else can I do with horrible yarn.
And what else I can just churn out when my nose stops dripping for more than 4 minutes.

I’m hopelessly pathetic when I’m sick. Someone fetch me some hot lemon and honey drink.

Socks. All about socks

Well this pair of socks started came into the world a while ago.
The flew to Melbourne and back without a single stitch being added.
They then sat around looking at the blanket being knitted, feeling lost and abandoned.

And then when I do pick them up again, I’m already kind of bored. I’m knitting them half heartedly thinking “I wish I had a pattern, or something more interesting than sockinette”.

Aha! I’m about to do the gusset, surely I can do something different with that!

So I hunted down Ravelry and found a centre V increase. I modified it to the number of stitches I had and I was on my way.

The heel turned with ease, the ribbing was complete when I felt restless.

What else can I do or learn for these socks.
Picot edging!
I love the look but have never learnt.

So onto YouTube I go and find my knitting guru, knitting by Judy.

And voila! I have a pair of socks with some interest.

The yarn is Moda Vera noir (as I can’t help but buy it in every pretty colour), and I’ve used two different colours and switched them over at different points.
