Friday night. Nothing much in the house. Can’t be bothered going shopping. Just want to curl up with some comfort food and a comfort book.
mashed potato can be a meal right?? right??
well i hopped on my wii-fit for the first time in a long time last night…
wow…
definitely put on more weight over christmas than i expected (i knew my clothes were a little snug).
so my goal for the month is so get on the wii-fit everyday, drink less alcohol, and eat more fresh food.
Their follow up EP to their last release ‘Album’ and they haven’t strayed too far from the formula which made me fall in love with their sound.
Not having lived through the 60s, Girls reminds me of what I think the 60s surf culture was.
It conjures up images of high waisted bikini clad girls playing volleyball and boys surfing and showing off.
They take the elements of the soulful guitars, laidback rhythms, and simple melodies and play with it introducing horns and bells.
Everything I expected from Girls, it’s the perfect soundtrack for hitting the beach and designed for summer fun.
seriously… what is with tonight…
actually it all started with the first plumber on Saturday night who couldn’t do anything.
well that and the fact that i had to call a plumber because my bathroom was flooded.
and another plumber on Sunday who couldn’t do anything – so i spent two hours away from work (which today was glorified track-tagging and frickin boring as) this morning waiting for the plumbers to do whatever it is they needed to do, which apparently they did. But they didn’t turn my gas back on!!
So i got home from work late (because i’m making up the time i took off this morning), i’m tired (because the plumber didn’t show up last night until 10:00), and i’m feeling frustrated because…
i don’t have any gas, which is my hot water system, my oven, and stove top…
No hot water to mop my floor with (which looks like 3 plumbers have been trekking water through – and my brand new steam mop doesn’t work), no hot water for a shower (as i haven’t showered since the plumbing issues started on Saturday night – ickky!), and for some reason the bbq is covered in ants (which is not my domain – i’m pretty sure bug spray isn’t going to work and i have had enough!)
so the schnitzel went in the sandwich press.
which worked really well.
and it was delicious.
with a spinach, feta, and beetroot salad.
it hit the spot.
i still have no gas, am still stinky, and have covered part of the floor with a mat.
but i am well fed, some bad tv to watch, and some knitting to relax me.
and hopefully an early night…
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ahh… mondays…
look at the pretty pink beetroot and a picture of a cloudy city on the drive into work this morning
After hearing (read dancing my life away) this song live at Southbound, I was reminded how much I love it.
From the Patty Smith quip, to the sun drenched, french girls , it’s just so damn catchy!
And some great Dr Seuss rhyming. Continue reading 20 The Rapture – Whoo? Alright – Yeah… Uh Huh (132)
After a surprisingly good night of sleep, it was Sunday.
I lied in bed for a while hoping to high heaven that my leg was rested and stretched enough to bear weight. When it got too hot to lay in the tent anymore I had to get up, fortunately it was slightly healed and with the help of some voltaren gel it was right for the rest of the weekend.
The Silents were due on at 11:35 so we had some time to kill.
Which the boys spent sitting around in a circle, taking turns spinning a stick, and who ever the stick pointed at, the person who spun the stick got to throw the stick at that person’s shins.
I thought it was the most ridiculous game i’d ever seen, but other people who heard that anecdote didn’t seem to think so.
Maybe you just had to be there. Continue reading southbound sunday
After a not-so-trashy new years eve in a Bunbury caravan park it was off to Southbound!
I had to drive as my boy was feeling rather poorly (self inflicted so he gets no sympathy), and driving his beast is always a bit nerveracking for me. It’s not something I particularly enjoy but we arrived at Sir Bovells Park, Busselton in one piece, and rather far away from the entrance.
Lugging three days worth of clothes, tent, bedding, and other miscellaneous items 400m into the campground is not fun. But we eventually got through the bag check unscathed, and parked ourselves under a tree. We made friends with our neighbours and chatted until the first band (The Ghost Hotel) was due to begin. BFF (for this weekend she was known as Marnie, as she got really sunburnt like our friend Marnie did last southbound) came with me and we left the boys at the camp site. Continue reading southbound saturday
so i got home this afternoon, hot, cranky, like my car had been trying to strangle me.
i found the most flowwy dress i own ( a $10 temt number) – realise that it had shrunk in the wash and now hardly covered my butt, so i had to put a pair of shorts on underneath (my current dotti go-to denim shorts).
and it didn’t look too bad so i took some pictures…
unfortunately my hair got in the way of most of them – but i still love the way my bedroom wall looks in photos.
it’s nice and summery.
and it’s waay too hot and i’m still too cranky to write any more…
plus i’ve been really crook for the last week – so crook beer doesn’t taste good (shock!) so all my energy is going towards coughing at the moment.
