What a delightful weekend.
Test match cricket is back! This makes me a very happy Bek!
Also the weather was fantastic. We spent a bit of time in the garden. I did some knitting. And there was some cricket watching.
That’s my kind of weekend.

I really only want to know embroidery so I can write/stitch really cool quotes and phrases. And then I can hang them on the wall or put them on cushions.
But I have a lot of practicing to do first.
Also on the weekend, we cleaned out the spare room. We now have room to swing a cat, or do a full 360 revolution when I’m at my sewing machine.
I started a whole stack of really cool blogging related projects.
I caved and my blog now has a Facebook page. Go look on your right – there’s a fancy Facebook thingamajig. Currently it’s linked to this blog (obviously), my Instagram, and there’s a spotify playlist for all my passion pop Wednesday (song of the week) picks.

It’s exciting times.
There’s also exciting news on the family front. There’s going to be a wedding!
Not mine, but my Bloke’s sister (who is one of the coolest people I know).
So I did the dutiful thing and introduced her to pintrest! (YOU’RE WELCOME!)
So it was a pretty awesome weekend. I’m really excited about the future.

Wow. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these.
But I reckon this is a good enough reason.
This is my cardigan! I am still super chuffed that I finished a big knitted project.
And this is my bookcase. The biggest reason that I haven’t done many outfit posts is that our apartment is so tiny, it gets no natural light, and there is no neutral place to use as a back drop.
So in lieu of a neutral place, I thought I’d show a part of my apartment that I’m proud of.
The first place that springs to mind is my cd collection. But that’s right next to the only window in the place and is really awkward to stand in front of.
So the next place is my bookshelf. I love to read. And I love to watch tv. To the left you can see my tea cup collection. And on the top shelf you can see my Dalek (and other assorted Doctor Who merchandise).
It’s forever changing, and being shuffled around, but I’m thinking of doing more outfit posts here. I’d love to know what people think of the location. Too cluttered? Too distracting? Or is it me? Will you all judge me on what you see in my bookcase?
Actually, if you haven’t already figured out who I am, my bookcase will certainly confuse or enlighten you.
So enough chat, here is me, pretending to model, wearing my own knitted creation.

The weekends are just flying by.
I’m now turning the heel of my socks which I started on Thursday (wow I know!), I did think I would try something new with the heel.
But I didn’t start researching the ‘after thought heel’ until I had finished the gusset increases.
Apparently the two aren’t compatible.
Oh well, maybe next socks.
I had a lot of time for sock knitting as we went for a drive to pick up some company for Max. For those of you who don’t remember, Max is our blue yabby.
We bought 4 Pygmy Perch to add a bit more interest to the tank. We also picked up some more plants.
We’ve quickly got into the routine where we wake up Max every morning (the light on the tank changes from night time blue to day time white), and we greet him every afternoon when we get home from work.
Max is a pretty good listener.
We’re both pretty bad at coming up with names, so we’re going to think about it for a week before naming the 4 newcomers.
I also finished up the design for my etsy shop! All it needs now is some product.
I have three cowls completed. Although one of them isn’t as long as the others and can only wrap around my neck once.
I now don’t know whether or not to put it up any way (after all, just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean that’s not someone elses preference).
But they still need photographs. Is needing a good space to take outfit and product photos a good enough reason to buy a new house?
(I think our angry neighbours and need for more space are probably better reasons.)
So overall a pretty good weekend.

About 4 weeks ago I had a disturbing conversation with my Father.
It was my Bloke’s birthday so we were going out for dinner that night. My parents were wanting to get him a present, and they wanted to make sure that we were free on a certain night.
Of course my mind went into over drive, wondering what they could possible buy us tickets for that we wouldn’t already have tickets for.
My bloke hates musicals with a passion, he even dislikes the musical episodes of his favourite tv shows, so I was hoping it was nothing like that.
And we have just bought season tickets to the Scorchers and our 5 day test match tickets, so sporting tickets were out of the question.
So I was very much perplexed and left wondering what they could possibly have bought us tickets to.
Well it was tickets to the circus! The Great Moscow Circus was in town, and so on Saturday night we went along.
We both had such an enjoyable time.
There was clowns, knife throwing, acrobats, trampolining, and even little horses (which I was very conflicted about. They’re so cute! But they’re trained animals!).
The grand finale was 5 motorbikes in a tiny enclosed space. I know enough physics to know how they stayed up there, but still! It was impressive.
We would never have gone to the circus ordinarily but I’m glad that we did.
It should be no secret that I love cricket.
Test cricket will always be my favourite, but with the twenty20 world cup on at the moment, and season tickets to the Perth Scorchers acquired, I do enjoy the shorter forms of the game.
And the Ryobi Cup kicked off WA’s first game for the season, and even though we didn’t win (and we’re not looking likely to win our Sheffield Shield game that’s in progress), it still makes me feel like summer and international tests are just around the corner. Which is always exciting.
These are photos taken with my new camera. It’s not quite a dslr but it’s a step up from my phone and the free GE point and shoot I won some time ago.
I’ve been using it for a little while now, but I still have a lot to learn. But I think these photos turned out pretty ok.

Three boxes of tissues, a packet of antihistamines, buckets of lemon tea, and some knitted dishcloths.
That was the weekend.
I figured dishcloths are probably the best thing to make whilst being all germy. They’re going to be washed anyway so the germs will wash out.
And everyone in the family is getting dishcloths for Christmas. They’re practical which fits in very well with my family’s gift giving ethos.
Plus my mother in law is a big environmentalist and I’m going to score mega brownie points with some home made scourers. Although I’ll probably end up with a standing order.
So I spent most of the weekend with ravelry open looking for different types of dishcloths.
There’s the
waffle cloth, ripple cloth, heart cloth, and a loin cloth.
I was planning on giving the leaf to my Mumsi until the Mister kindly pointed out its resemblance to a loin cloth.
Thanks hun.
So another knittingless weekend meant I spent a lot of time browsing etsy.
And I put together some treasury lists.

I’m clumsy. In my 27 years on earth I’ve broken my arm once (falling off a desk), had staples in my leg (a rogue nutella jar), and have various scars from hair lackys, baking equipment, and cereal boxes.
So I’m clumsy, my best friend is accident prone, and my Mister, well between getting old diseases like scurvy and gout, gets bitten by spiders quite a lot.
We are in Australia I guess.
So this weekend it was my turn to be clumsy.
At some point on Friday night, whilst the three of us were quietly watching a game of football with a few quiet beers I’ve fallen over pretty hard and sprained (possibly broken) my elbow.
Clumsy.
So the rest of the weekend was spent not knitting. Including a trip to the doctors which is usually prime knitting time.
I’m also discovering just how much I use my left arm (I’m right handed which is lucky), but this blog post has taken me twice as long to type as it usually would.
So I’ve tripled my favourite list on Ravelry. Ordered some yarn from etsy. Watched some football (without falling over). And am now waiting to have an X-ray this afternoon.
I’m pretty sure it’s not broken. But I am rocking a very sexy sling.
So there are no knitting pictures from the weekend.
But this is the sunset on Friday night.
And please excuse any typos. This one handed thing is hard.
Oh I made sausage rolls pre-clumsiness.

With a name like that, how could I resist?
With an equal share of crafts, antiques, and vintage clothing it was something I was keen to check out.
And I found a few gems.
My favorite being Kate’s tea pot hats.
They were so beautiful. And she has a new etsy shop which has just opened! It’s full of delightful tea pot hats.
Aren’t they pretty!
There were so many pretty tea pot related beauties.
I also spied these wind chimes.
There were tea cup bird baths as well!
And so many pretty tea cups!
And not so pretty ones.
But I only came home with one.
There’s another one in Perth in November. Perfect for all my Christmas shopping!
